Faith doesn’t focus on you and your ability; it focuses on God’s ability.
God responds to faith in what He can do, He doesn’t respond to what we do to deserve His answer.
In the book of Romans, chapter 4, we are told that the story of Abraham is about God setting him right, not about Abraham striving to be right before God so that he could be accepted before God.
The Bible tells us that the law and the prophets foretold that there was coming a time when God was going to set man right with Himself without man’s effort. That happened when God set us right with Himself without the Law, through Jesus Christ. (Rom 3:21-24)
Therefore, receiving by faith is not receiving as a result of what we do; it is receiving God’s promise without any prerequisite other believing the promise. (Rom 8:32 – He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?)
