We always change into the image we have in our minds. Proverbs 23:7 says; “For as he thinks in His heart, so is he.” THE IMAGE WE HAVE IN OUR MINDS IS THE RESULT OF WHAT WE HEAR, SEE, FEEL, TASTE, AND SMELL. THIS MEANS THAT WE CAN BE DELIBERATE IN FORMING AN IMAGE IN OUR MINDS just like 2 Corinthians 3:18 says, “But we all, with unveiled face, BEHOLDING AS IN A MIRROR THE GLORY OF THE LORD, are being TRANSFORMED INTO THE SAME IMAGE from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
When God wanted Joshua to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land He instructed Joshua to meditate on the Word of God they had then, which is the law. Joshua 1:8 “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”
Joshua 1:8 reveals that we get prosperity and good success in every area of life by taking the Word of God and MEDITATING IN IT TO THE DEGREE THAT IS SATURATES WHAT WE THINK ABOUT, WHAT WE TALK ABOUT, AND HOW WE ACT. When the Word of God literally begins to control our lives, we will prosper and have good success physically, emotionally, relationally, financially, and in every area.
MEDITATION IS SIMPLY FOCUSING OUR ATTENTION ON SOMETHING TO THE POINT THAT IT NEVER LEAVES OUR CONSCIOUSNESS. This is not an impractical demand. We can take a passage of Scripture, read it, and then meditate in it the rest of the day and night. We can be thinking on the Word of God and considering “how does this apply to me?” while we are going about our daily activities.
When we read Bible stories we must connect with them and not only think that they happened so long ago to somebody else, somewhere else. We should not just read the information, but begin to think about it. We should think that what God did then He would do for us. AS WE MEDITATE ON WHAT GOD DID FAITH RISES IN OUR HEARTS. So, we should not just read the Word, we need to meditate in it.
WE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO SPEND LARGE QUANTITIES OF TIME IN THE WORD, BUT WE ALL CAN MEDITATE IN IT DAY AND NIGHT. LET’S CHANGE OUR LIVES BY MEDITATING ON GOD AND JESUS CHRIST.
2 Peter 1:2-4 ”2 May God give you more and more grace and peace AS YOU GROW IN YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF GOD AND JESUS OUR LORD. 3 By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. WE HAVE RECEIVED ALL OF THIS BY COMING TO KNOW HIM, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. 4 And because of his glory and excellence, HE HAS GIVEN US GREAT AND PRECIOUS PROMISES. THESE ARE THE PROMISES THAT ENABLE YOU TO SHARE HIS DIVINE NATURE and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.”
REST IN THE FINISHED WORK OF JESUS CHRIST!
