The Real Gospel – Part 28
Faith comes by hearing the message of God’s grace toward us, it doesn’t come by keeping the demands of the Law, or praying for it.
When we try to get faith by fulfilling the demands of the Law, or asking God for it, we are wasting our precious time since God has already given us faith, if we believe in Christ.
When Jesus’ disciples asked Him to increase their faith, He told them that IT IS NOT THE SIZE OF FAITH THAT MATTERS (Luke 17 vs 5-8). He said it is the question of whether faith is engaged or not. Faith that is as small as a mustard seed can accomplish any task, AS LONG AS IT IS ENGAGED.
Romans 10 v 17 says, “So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.” This means that the Good News of Jesus Christ brings faith into the heart of a believer.
Faith is carried, and delivered, by the Word of God. Therefore, receiving the Word of God implies receiving faith. So, if my mind thinks I am running low on faith, I need to simply renew it to the truth of the Word, which says the faith I have is capable of accomplishing any task (Luke 17 vs 5-8 & Romans 12 v 2).
Second Peter 1 vs 3-4 say, “Seeing that His divine power HAS GRANTED TO US EVERYTHING PERTAINING TO LIFE AND GODLINESS, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. For by these He has granted to us His PRECIOUS AND MAGNIFICENT PROMISES, so that BY THEM you may become PARTAKERS OF THE DIVINE NATURE, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.
Galatians 2 v 20 says the faith we use to believe God IS NOT OUR NATURAL FAITH, IT IS THE FAITH OF JESUS: “I am crucified with Christ, and no longer live, I, but Christ lives in me; but in that I now live in flesh, I live by faith, the FAITH OF THE SON OF GOD, who has loved me and given himself for me.” (DARBY version.)
WE RECEIVED THE FAITH OF JESUS WHEN WE BELIEVED. 2 Peter 1 v 1 says, “Simon Peter, a bond-servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have received a FAITH OF THE SAME KIND AS OURS, by the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ.”
So, according to the abovementioned verses, all believers have faith. THE DIFFERENCE IS THAT SOME USE THEIR FAITH, WHILE OTHERS DON’T. This knowledge is important because at times we get tempted to think that we do not have enough faith to receive from God what we desire.
The truth is that believers have faith, but they may not display “FAITH ATTITUDE”. 2 Corinthians 4 v 13 says, “And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak.”
FAITH COMES ALIVE WHEN WE SAY WHAT WE BELIEVE. Romans 10 v 10 says, “For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and WITH THE MOUTH CONFESSION is made unto salvation.”
Second Corinthians 1:20 says, “For no matter how many promises God has made, THEY ARE “YES” IN CHRIST. And so through him the “AMEN” IS SPOKEN BY US to the glory of God.”
FAITH IS MADE EFFECTIVE OR EFFECTUAL WHEN WE ACKNOWLEDGE WHAT WE HAVE IN CHRIST (Philemon 1 v 6). Our faith gets engaged when we confess what we believe (Romans 10 v 10 & 2 Corinthians 4 v 13).
God instructed Joshua to not let God’s message to LEAVE JOSHUA’S MOUTH (Joshua 1:8). Proverbs 18 v 21 says, “DEATH AND LIFE ARE IN THE POWER OF THE TONGUE, And those who love it will eat its fruit.”
Proverbs 18 v 20 says, “A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the FRUIT OF HIS MOUTH; From the PRODUCE OF HIS LIPS he shall be filled.”
Matthew 12 vs 356-37 say, “But I say to you that FOR EVERY IDLE WORD MEN MAY SPEAK, THEY WILL GIVE ACCOUNT OF IT IN THE DAY OF JUDGMENT. For BY YOUR WORDS you will be justified, and BY YOUR WORDS you will be condemned.”
In Mark 11 vs 22-23, Jesus said, “And Jesus answering says to them, Have faith in God. Verily I say to you, that whosoever SHALL SAY to this mountain, Be thou taken away and cast into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart, but BELIEVE that WHAT HE SAYS takes place, whatever HE SHALL SAY shall come to pass for him.”
These passages of scripture show the role of words in manifesting what we believe. We may believe in our hearts, but never see the promise of God come true if we don’t have the promise IN THE HEART AND MOUTH.
If we believe in Christ we already have faith. We simply have to ACTIVATE AND RELEASE that faith by CONFESSING WHAT WE BELIEVE.
