The Real Gospel – Part 32
God gives us different grace (empowerment) for service because we have different assignments. But, we all get the same faith.
We see this in Romans 12 v 3 where Paul said, “For I say, through the GRACE GIVEN UNTO ME, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God HATH DEALT TO EVERY MAN THE measure of faith.”
God has given to every person that believes in Christ “the” measure of faith, not “a” measure of faith.
We see in this verse, and the verses that follow it (vs 4-8), that GOD IS NOT A RESPECTOR OF PERSONS TO GIVE DIFFERENT LEVELS OF FAITH TO HIS PEOPLE. But, just like a body has different parts for different use, we receive different grace to enable us to fulfill our different callings.
Peter confirmed that we have the same faith when he talked about believers having “like precious faith” with him (2 Peter 1 v 1). This means that the same faith that Peter used to raise Dorcas from the dead (Acts 9 vs 36-42) is in us too.
In Galatians 2 v 20, Paul said he was living his Christian life by THE FAITH OF THE SON OF GOD. Since we all have been given “the” measure of faith, that means we all have the faith of the Son of God in us.
Therefore, the problem we may have is that we don’t know how to use our faith. Jesus illustrated this to His disciples in Luke 17 vs 5-8. He made it clear that faith that is as a mustard seed will always produce desired results (Matthew 17 v 20 & Mark 17 v 6).
SECOND CORINTHIANS 4 v 3 TELLS US HOW FAITH WORKS:
“And since we have the SAME SPIRIT OF FAITH, according to what is written, “I BELIEVED AND THEREFORE I SPOKE,” we also believe and therefore speak.”
THIS IS EXACTLY HOW WE GET SAVED (we believe in our hearts what Jesus Christ did for us AND confess His Lordship over our lives – Romans 10 vs 9-10). Also, this is how we continue to live our lives in Christ (believe and cofess what believe – Colossians 2 v 6).
THE BIGGEST BLESSING WE RECEIVE FROM GOD IS THE GIFT OF SALVATION. So, if it simply takes believing in the heart and confessing with the mouth for one to be saved, obviously it will take the same, or less, for one to receive lesser blessings.
Putting it differently: if we have enough faith to be saved (salvation being the biggest blessing we receive from God), THE LOGICAL CONCLUSION is that we have enough faith to receive all smaller blessings.
WE SIMPLY HAVE TO USE OUR FAITH TO RECEIVE FROM GOD.
This is supported by the fact that God doesn’t withhold anything from us (Romans 8 v 32). Therefore, the faith we have is able to produce anything that God has provided for us through the sacrificial death of Christ.
Finally, 1 John 5:4 says, “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”
