The Real Gospel – Part 34

The Real Gospel – Part 34

All we need is love!

Thinking about ourselves, and ourselves only, is slowly eroding good morals and values of our societies. We now find it easy to call evil “good”, and to call good “evil”.

We need to pause and see the damage we are causing to our world. We have to ask ourselves the following question: WHAT ARE WE PASSING ON TO THE NEXT GENERATION?”

I want to ask this question, again: as we indulge our greed, and every kind of desire, WHAT ARE WE LEAVING BEHIND FOR OUR CHILDREN AND OUR CHILDREN’S CHILDREN?

Galatians 5 vs 13‭-‬15 say:

“As for you, my brothers and sisters, you were called to be free. But do not let this freedom become an EXCUSE FOR LETTING YOUR PHYSICAL DESIRES CONTROL YOU.

“For the whole Law is summed up in one commandment: “Love your neighbour as you love yourself.”

“But if you act like wild animals, hurting and harming each other, then watch out, or you will completely destroy one another.”

As we continue with this series, we are still using the book of Romans to understand the real Gospel.

In Romans 12 vs 14-16, Paul said the following:

“Ask God to bless those who persecute you — yes, ask him to bless, not to curse.

“Be happy with those who are happy, weep with those who weep.

“Have the same concern for everyone. Do not be proud, but accept humble duties. Do not think of yourselves as wise.”

He continued to say the following in verses 17‭-‬21:

“If someone has done you wrong, do not repay him with a wrong.

“Try to do what everyone considers to be good.

“Do everything possible on your part to live in peace with everybody.

“Never take revenge, my friends, but instead let God’s anger do it. For the scripture says, “I will take revenge, I will pay back, says the Lord.”

“Instead, as the scripture says: “If your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them a drink; for by doing this you will make them burn with shame.”

“Do not let evil defeat you; instead, conquer evil with good.”

As I mentioned in part 33 of this series, we need to remember First Corinthians 13 vs 4‭-‬7 where the Word says:

“Love is patient and kind; it is not jealous or conceited or proud; love is not ill-mannered or selfish or irritable; love does not keep a record of wrongs; love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth. Love never gives up; and its faith, hope, and patience never fail.”

This is not an impossible ask to those who believe in Christ because the Spirit of God is the one who produces love in us.

We see this in Galatians 5 vs 22-23 where the Word says, “But the Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control. There is no law against such things as these.”
